Shining Starz
Springer’s Starz is very pleased to announce the start of our very first special needs cheer team. The program is completely non-profit and volunteer based! The staff at Springer’s is very passionate about giving every child a safe, positive and Christian atmosphere to learn sports like cheerleading along with important life skills to use the rest of their lives.
About Our Program
Springer’s Starz is celebrating our 5 year anniversary this year as an All-Star cheer team. We have three competing teams: Team Universe, Team Galaxy, and Team Shooting Starz along with our Show team: Team Twinklerz. Our Shining Starz will join us these athletes this year! They will participate as an Exhibition team. We start our season in May and practice all year round. During competition season (October through April) we typically attend one competition per month including our trip to San Antonio for the cheerleading Nationals. The Shining Starz will be an Exhibition team and the cheer companies we compete through allow special needs team to perform for free! Cheerleading is a great sport that teaches spirit, team work and a sense of belonging as well as giving the child a physical workout and allowing cognitive development. We believe that it is important to give every child the opportunity to reap the benefits of this fun and rewarding activity.
What Will This Cost Me?
It is free to be a Shining Star! We know that there are plenty of expenses raising a child with special needs, so Springer’s will make every effort possible to keep this program a minimal cost to you. We are running this as a non-profit organization and the coaches and helpers will be volunteering their time to work with your children. The only cost to you will be the uniform and any spirit gifts you chose to give your children throughout the year. With this in mind, we have already began organizing fundraisers and gathering sponsors to help with uniform costs for Shining Starz and competition fees for our competition teams. The Starz do have corporate sponsors for the team and fundraisers.
